MAT Recruitment are happy to offer a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Whole School Literacy Lead! This is a full-time position, at a progressive school in Darwen, Lancashire. This is a full-time position, on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will have the chance to work collaboratively with SLT, HODs, TLR Holders in English, HOYs, SENDCO, subject staff and support staff to strategically plan and increase the embedding of key school levers into the English team. Furthermore, the candidate will be able to contribute to the development of literacy across the whole academy. We understand the importance of creating an inclusive culture, and this role offers the chance for someone to join a supportive, diverse team and build on existing school techniques.
This is an opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and dynamic candidate to join a supportive and collaborative team of subject specialists. The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in developing an effective and sequential approach to literacy across the school. The successful candidate will have a key role in facilitating and encouraging learning which enables all students to achieve high standards of literacy, promotes a love of reading and in turn improves educational outcomes for out our students.
Responsibilities:
• To develop and implement a robust whole school literacy strategy that feeds into the vision of the School and Trust.
• To have oversight of the literacy improvement plan and its implementation
• Communicate effectively so that all staff within the school are familiar with the Literacy aims and objectives
• To support the development of a range of appropriate strategies for promoting reading and literacy in the classroom ensuring subject areas have a range of reading opportunities and promote literacy
• To support the Assistant Headteacher for Teaching & Learning as they plan and prepare high quality teaching and learning CPD in these areas.
• To plan, direct and, where appropriate, lead training across the school to promote and develop literacy including a love of reading.
• To ensure that the literacy marking and feedback policy is fit for purpose and lead on quality assuring the application of it.
• To lead on the use of NGRT data to inform literacy intervention programmes.
• To identify resource needs and to contribute to the efficient/effective use of resources related to reading and literacy
• To lead on tracking, monitoring and evaluation of literacy in line with agreed procedures
• To use data gathered from evaluation, review, and assessment to inform future planning
